I won't even sell somebody a barbecue unless they get cole slaw. If they want a barbecue and they don't want cole slaw, there's something wrong with that person.  It all goes together. You've got to have cole slaw and hush puppies with barbecue.

  • Coleslaw: Standard, but good.
  • Beans: Pinto. Standard, but good.
  • Beef: Good cut/prep but dry. Weak spice not improved by sauce.
  • Potato Salad: Bland and sour - pickles?
  • Atmosphere: Nice historic street corner location. Used to be a bar. Cheesey posters and flowery tablecloths detract. Nice 20-foot shotgun over bar.
  • Sausage: Snappy. Good texture and light spice. Firm.
  • Ham: Good but not great.
  • Spare Rib: Falling off bone. Bark is tender. Not spicy at all.
  • Pork Roast: Juicy. Sliced with grain. Nice ring.
