I'm not saying that I haven't found spectacular plates of barbecue during my travels. I have. But the standouts were few and far between, and all of 'em at places that still cook exclusively with wood.
crosen's Review of Lyndons Pit BBQ
Weighted Overall
- Sides: Corn Casserole - Sweet, Creamy, and Spicy. I loved it!!!
- Overall: Didn't do it today for me. Meats were not as good as I had tried in the past. Disappointing seeing that I recommended the joint over Otto's.
BTW, Post-tour, I did go to Otto's, and it rocked!!!
- Atmosphere: Located at the corner of a strip center. May not quite qualify as a joint. Good old-timey stuff decorated throughout the place.
Most of the guys dogged it as fake looking. - Brisket: Dry, tender, bland, hard to swallow.
- Spare Rib: Fell apart, nice, smoky mild taste.
- Pulled Pork: Tender, tasty, and shredded.
- Sausage: Very unique, mild, tasty flavor
- Potato Salad: Red Potatoes used to make this stuff. Really good.
- Beans: Strange flavor. I couldn't do more than one bite.
- Coleslaw: Too vinegary for me.
- Sauce: Homemade, chunky, onion-laden sauce. Good.
