When you're driving around, dont forget to keep your eyes open. You never know when you might happen upon a shade-tree barbecue stand or a little shack that nobody's ever heard of -- with the best smoked meat in creation.
ssweeney's Review of Goode Co Barbeque
Weighted Overall
- Dessert: Pecan pie slice is big and 'GOODE'. The BBQ Crew seems to agree that this is the best thing we tasted at Goode Co. today.
- Spare Rib: Tender. Comes off the bone easily. Nice texture with meat and fat melting together.
- Atmosphere: Big place. Lunch rush is dying down, but still busy. Lots of outside seating. Pecan wood. Merchandise store across Bartlett Street.
- Sausage: Czech sausage is firmly packed. The casing is a little tough. Jalapeno sausage has similar texture.
- Brisket: Fatty cut is a plus - with the bark. I like this brisket. Definitely taste the pecan wood here. Others complain that it is dry, but I got a good end-piece.
- Sides: PS is creamy and pretty good. Austin baked beans are a wierd combination of beans + hot applesauce. Pintos are OK.
- Sauce: What is it with Spaghettios today? This sauce tastes like spaghettios with added brown sugar.
- Pork: 'Pot Roast' cut. 3 sections of roast with fat in between. Lean, but not dry. Good smoke ring. Bland -- especially for 'spicy pork'.
