I won't even sell somebody a barbecue unless they get cole slaw. If they want a barbecue and they don't want cole slaw, there's something wrong with that person. It all goes together. You've got to have cole slaw and hush puppies with barbecue.
ssweeney's Review of Ranch House Bar-B-Que
Weighted Overall
- Coleslaw: Regular, but with some added vinegar twang
- Potato Salad: sMashed texture; mustard-based. Good.
- Potato Salad: Jalapeno: Mayo based and good! Chunky… I love it.
- Beans: BBQ beans: pintos with barbecue sauce + chunks of meat
- Sausage: Casing a bit tough… well, the meat is too. Commercial.
- Rib: Nicely done. Good smoke flavor balances the rich meat. Not too greasy; fully rendered. Good.
- Atmosphere: Table service; wrap-around porch & patio; Cutie; Nice tour - J&R pit using green pecan (per mfr recommendation)
- Brisket: Good flavor and texture; Nice meaty flavor with light smoke. Good… not chewy, but doesn't melt in the mouth.
- Beans: Pintos: standard, but nicely spiced
- Jalapeno Sausage: Nice spices; a little greasy, but great jalapeno flavor -- not too hot.
