ssweeney's Review of Lufkin Bar-B-Q

Main Fare:

• Brisket - Finally, somebody using a dry rub.  Lean, flavorful, and accordian tender.
• Rib is very smokey and fully rendered.  Nice flavor and texture.  Crisp/chewy on exterior, and moist and tender inside.
• Sausage has a similar taste to homeade bologna or salami.

Other Fare:

• Potato salad is mashed style with black pepper.  Different flavor profile working here, and it is good.
• Pintos are sweet and good.  Another interesting flavor profile.
• Raisin and Apple fried pies are good and homeade, but would be better if combined.
• Pecan pie is very good, but not made here.

Atmosphere:

• Knotty pine interior with western motif.
• Another group of very nice people in East Texas.
• They are doing bang-up business on their Drive Thru
• Real "old school" pits that are fired by a compact, clean fire.  Nice.
